In this month’s Full Moon write up, Tammy talks about the rising of a feeling to be connected, sentimental and emotional. I invite you to play with checking in with yourself, listening to your intuition and noticing how your daily interactions make you feel. Are you living your favorite version of yourself?

Full Moon Saturday, June 3rd, 11:42 pm in Sagittarius.

This full moon is less intense than last month. With the Sun in fun-loving Gemini, we are all feeling social and outgoing. Anytime the Moon is in Sagittarius we may feel more connected to others and in our truest state of being. Use this time to connect with others, especially with that special someone. Venus is playing a strong role in this full moon as it trines with Neptune and is in opposition to Pluto. We may feel very sentimental, and dreamy, with sexual/emotional intensities heightened. Use this time to role-play and connect to your desires and fantasies in a safe and supported environment.

I have been playing with this fun book The Power Wish by Keiko, Japan's leading astrologer, for a few years now. I love playing with the power of intention and manifestation through deliberate meditation and vision. I love to Journal each Full and New Moon using the guidance from this book!

New moons are a great time to set intentions and Full moons are great for gratitude and letting go.

She writes that Sagittarius is a great time to pursue endless possibilities! With the Full Moon in Sagittarius we can set an intention to remove any unnecessary hindrance with the Full Moon. I received this book as a gift from my sweet friend Lisa at Ink Fish Books here in Warren, RI. If you haven't already, you should pop into her store! I hope you look into it and have as much fun with it as I do!

All the love,

Pamela

I am so excited to introduce you to my lovely, dear friend Justine Ring, founder of Healer's Harvest and The Herbalist's Collaborative. She is a beautiful soul, inside and out!

If you are like me, the first two things that pop into your head are one, the benefits of cooking with fresh herbs, and two, herbal remedies. Justine could educate us on those topics, and I look forward to featuring her again to delve into the surface of herbalism a bit more, but what Justine and I spoke about this time was the deeper, more subtle aspects of her work that she is passionate about. For Justine, herbalism is a spiritual path and a lifestyle.

I asked…

Justine, tell me how you began this journey and how would you describe your passion to the rest of us?

She answered….

“I first learned about the idea of “herbal energetics” in 2012 during an internship at Herb Pharm in southern Oregon. I remember thinking, “I don’t get it, but I am certain there is something for me to learn here.” It sounded abstract with a dash of "woo woo". After over a decade of studying Herbalism and 5 certificates later, I now teach about energetics and I see it as foundational for a strong herbal practice.

To understand herbal energetics is to understand the laws and language of nature. The elements, earth, air, fire, water and ether are considered the most basic and fundamental patterns of nature, and the idea is that all things in existence contain the qualities of these elements in different variations. The goal of studying energetics is to begin to recognize the qualities of the elements in everything around us. As herbalists we can use this skill to help our clients identify elemental patterns in their bodies and establish the balance they need for optimal health. Seeing the world this way has strengthened my intuition and connection with nature which has always provided me with feelings of serenity. It is intimately linked with my sense of spirituality which is truly the most rewarding part of being an herbalist and I am forever grateful to have found my plant and spiritual path.”

If you are new to herbalism, some easy ways to incorporate herbs into your life might include adding more culinary spices to your cooking, trying an herbal infusion aka an herbal tea, adding fresh herbs to your smoothies, making an herbal infused oil, or using essential oils for aromatherapy, even just having flowers in the house or doing some gardening is a good way to start connecting with the plants. The list goes on! My best advice is to just enjoy it and have fun!”

I love all of this and will definitely be playing around with a more intimate relationship with herbs and all of the beautiful magic they have to offer!!

If you are interested in learning more about herbal medicine, connect with Justine on instagram or join her mailing list. She has recently started a blog and she offers medicinal plant walks in the summer which is a really fun way to learn about herbs.

Until next time!

All the love,

Pamela

Most of us are aware that whole foods are the best, most supportive way for us to give our bodies the vitamins and nutrients it needs to thrive, but it is increasingly difficult to get everything we need with our current food system. Supplements are a great way to fill in the holes and gaps however, not all supplements are created equally!

This week I talked with a dear friend of mine, Deidre Julian, DA. Owner and founder of Wellbeing Clinic and Nature’s apothecary located at 18 Water St. Warren, RI. There are so many subjects I could explore with Deidre and probably will in future blogs but today

I asked….

  1. What guidance or advice do you have for people trying to educate themselves?

  2. We know not all bodies are created equal and Bio-individuality plays a huge part in what we need added to our wellness plan and when, however, in your experience, is there a supplement that you believe we could all use more of and tend to be low on?

She answered….

“The most important qualities to look for in any supplement is organic whole foods. Most supplements are isolates and a byproduct of the petroleum industry. Vitamin C is not just ascorbic acid, Vitamin E is not just mixed tocopherols, Calcium Carbonate is a rock and is not bioavailable."

"There are dozens of other components to make these recognizable and useable to the human body. The best supplements and vitamins are produced from foods and plants and herbs, not in a lab. My advice is to either take a class from a reputable source or seek out a professional with experience in prescribing herbal remedies and supplements. I have been in practice for over 20 years and the majority of my continuing education has been studying supplements and herbal medicine. There is always new research and products and diseases and it is important to keep current. Even with all of my efforts, there is still much I do not know, and patients will ask about a supplement and its use or effectiveness for a certain condition. Sometimes it makes sense, many times it is a false promise or a marketing ploy to sell the newest fad vitamin. I am always skeptical of the products that promise miraculous results. Or those that are super expensive. I have seen bodies respond in miraculous ways to the perfect treatment and combination of supplements but it is a process."

"In my experience, there is no magic pill for everyone. The time of year, stress level, age of the body/mind, nutritional intake, ability to assimilate, level of health all play a role in what I recommend to my patients. The only vitamin that I prescribe regularly is Vitamin D in the winter. I believe it is essential for a healthy immune system and can be very helpful for anyone who struggles with seasonal affective disorder. Magnesium is something that I use a lot in my practice. Many people are deficient and it can work wonders for many ailments. Migraines, constipation, TMJ, muscle spasms and cramps. mood, stress and tension can all be a sign of magnesium deficiency. That being said, I have 7 or 8 different magnesium products in my clinic. Choosing the correct one for the person and the condition takes practice. It is my belief that in order to build the healthiest, most vibrant version of yourself, supplementation with high quality, organic vitamins and herbs is essential. Finding a practitioner or teacher who will help you navigate through the endless array of available products is the best way to start.”

I absolutely love all this information and hope we were able to share some insight in the world of supplements. I encourage you to stop by Nature’s Apothecary and have a walk around, it is absolutely beautiful and filled with a large variety of products you can trust and will LOVE!
